I think this whole idea that dating is a man’s game and that they have all the options is very much false.
Men and women are on pretty much equal footing in terms of odds and numbers, for the most part.

One of the big difficulties for either side is that the level of flirting is much more strongly related to the flirter’s personality than their interest level. Someone who has a very flirty personality may flirt at level 9 with everyone and 9.5 with someone they are interested. A non flirty person might flirt with everyone at a 3 and a 3.5 with an interest.
The only guy I have known that was big into the chase was a total player.
Ninety percent of the times I have seen women ask a guy out they are shooting way out of her league. My then GF’s friend decide she would take a risk and ask a guy out – she picks the 6’6″ 10 guy that all the girls are hanging around, she was a 6 or so. Of course the guy the rejected her. So then she was down on asking guys out.
